Cover-Up Tattoos Birmingham

Cover-ups, done honestly.

Cover-ups require careful assessment. We'll be honest about what's possible — and what isn't. We never promise that every tattoo can be covered.

Why cover-ups need a consultation

A cover-up isn't just a bigger tattoo over an old one. It needs a design that works with what's already there — and an honest look at whether coverage is realistic, or whether laser lightening should come first.

That's why we normally recommend a consultation before booking. We'd rather give you a real plan than a false promise.

What we assess

Existing tattoo size

Larger existing tattoos need more design real estate to cover convincingly.

Existing darkness

Very dark or dense old tattoos are harder to cover — sometimes laser lightening helps first.

Placement

Some areas give us more flexibility for a cover-up design than others.

Scar tissue

If there's scarring under or around the old tattoo, we'll assess how it'll take new ink.

New design size

Cover-up designs usually need to be larger than the original — we'll explain why.

Colour options

Darker, denser designs with strategic colour often work best for coverage.

Why cover-up designs are often larger

To disguise an existing tattoo, the new design usually needs to be bigger and denser — using darker shading and strategic composition so the old piece disappears into the new one. We'll explain all of this with your specific tattoo in front of us.
